Sometimes there are happy accidents.

The Beginning

There was a time when I felt lost and uncertain about my career. I had many interests and a wide range of skills but nothing ever clicked enough for me to feel satisfied with my work for very long.

  • After graduating at the University of Florida I became a middle school math and science teacher.

  • This was my path for about 4 years, after which I began to question if I wanted to remain in the education field.

  • I had to consider the fact that I am an individual who seeks opportunities that correlate between the creative and analytical.

  • I came to learn about UX design and after some consideration, decided that it would be my next career move!

The Reason

As far as motivation, I draw from many sources. One is from my role as a 1st born 1st generation daughter of immigrants. How my family learns and grows together is fundamental to me. Another is my incessant need to find and put together. I especially love to discover and create pieces needed to make a project whole. The effort required to do this has never stopped me, and I enjoy taking feedback for improvement. In fact, I believe that it is necessary for growth.

The Design

When it comes to design, my research revealed that great design is unnoticed by the user. Meaning they are able to be entirely focused on content and not be thrown off by clumsy interactions. This is what design means to me, to be able to have an enhanced experience of whatever content is being consumed, as a result of intentional and well thought out design.

The New Season

I realized that to be able to pull this off, there would have to be a large effort on my part. I needed to truly understand the nuances of psychology and behavior while also learning about visuals and placements. These are all things that I have not studied formally but I am motivated by putting together the pieces of knowledge that I acquire. I love seeing things come together and when they inevitably don’t always come together the way that I wanted, I am especially motivated by constructive criticism. That is honestly the best way that I come to truly understand my work and how I am able to learn with efficiency and determination. As an individual I love to find that solutions are often found in the subtlety of simplicity.
